Konnyaku (yam cake) is a food made from the corm of konjac, being cooked and consumed primarily in Japan. Two basic types of konnyaku are white and black. Noodles made from konnyaku is known as shirataki.
Preparation of konnyaku
Place konnyaku on a dry cutting board. Sprinkle salt and tap with a rolling pin to remove excess water. This process makes konnyaku less watery, so it’s suitable for ingredients for soup and simmering.
